A running game for iPhone

Run the real world. Explore another.

Your runs move you along a trail through painted worlds. Every stop holds a creature, and there are 200 to find.

iPhone only. No ads, no in‑app purchases.

How it works

Your run is the controller.

  1. 1 of 3

    Record a real run.

GPS, pace and splits, straight from your pocket.

  2. 2 of 3

    Every mile moves you.

The next stop is always a little way ahead. You will add a loop just to reach it.

  3. 3 of 3

    A creature at every stop.

Reach it and the creature is yours. Some turn up everywhere; some you will wait months for.

The Journal

200 creatures. You start with none.

Every find is an enamel pin in your Journal, numbered, named and kept. The empty shapes are what is still out there.

Longer trails and the last stop of an expedition improve them, and a world's type favors its own creatures.

Nothing can buy a Mythic. Only miles.

The worlds

Where your miles take you.

Twelve painted worlds, each home to its own kind of creature.

Your first trail is sized to how much you run, so you reach its last stop in about two weeks.

A serious run tracker, underneath

The game only works if the miles are real.

Pocket GPS
Records with the screen locked, and can pause itself when you stop.
Splits and best efforts
Every mile or kilometer, and your fastest 1K to half marathon.
Heart rate
Pair a Bluetooth strap for live heart rate and five zones.
Car stretches do not count
Stretches at car speed are set aside, so only your own feet move you along the trail.

Morning 5K done. Look who was in the crystal fields.
No way. What app is that??
Waybound. Found it at the end of my 5K.
Ok I need one of those

Waybound

  1. 1 of 3

Every find becomes an iMessage sticker.

The creatures you unlock land in the Waybound sticker pack. Drop one in any chat, then wait for “what app is that?”

iMessage stickers need iOS 16.4 or later.

  2. 2 of 3

    Show them where you went.

Turn any run into a flyover of your route, ready to post. Or send it as a link that opens in any browser, no app needed.

  3. 3 of 3

    Your route, on your photo.

Drop your route and stats over your own post-run shot. Transparent, sized for Stories, nothing else on top.

Before your first run.

More on the support page, or write to support@waybound.app.

Do walks count?

Yes. Runs and walks move you along the trail in exactly the same way: the same distance, the same progress.

Will I ever run out of creatures?

No. Every stop always holds a creature, and finishing all 200 takes most runners years: any Mythic turns up only about once in 530 finds. Every creature also has a rare pearl edition to hunt, and your Journal counts every repeat.

How much does Waybound cost?

The price is on the App Store listing, and that is all you ever pay.

Can I pay to find rarer creatures?

No. Distance is the only thing that moves you forward. Waybound never sells randomized attempts, improved odds, rerolls or luck.

What do I need? Does it work with Apple Watch or Strava?

Just your iPhone: it records distance, pace, splits and elevation on its own. Pair a Bluetooth chest strap or armband for live heart rate and zones. There is no Apple Watch app, no Apple Health or Strava sync, and no Android version.

Your first trail is waiting

Your first creature is three miles away.

Every outdoor run or walk counts toward it, starting with the next one.
